Six people injured in grenade blast

A boy who was injured in a grenade blast being treated at a hospital in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday.

Six people were injured in the explosion at the main market in the Singhpora area of Pattan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, according to local news reports.

Police sources said militants had aimed the grenade at a convoy of security forces passing through the area.

But it missed the target and exploded on the road, injuring six people.

The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said: "Unnerved by mass participation in the ongoing election process, terrorists hurled a grenade at innocent civilians in Singhpora Bazaar, Pattan. Six civilians were injured and evacuated to hospital.

A joint search has been launched (to nab the militants)."
