Rachel Ooi of Henry Park Primary School is one of the students who have been admitted to these schools this year through direct admissions, and she has secured a place in the Singapore School of the Arts. She also received an offer from New Town Secondary School but was unsuccessful in her application to St Margaret’s Secondary School.
Rachel has been showing a keen interest in art since young and has been attending art classes since Primary 1, said her mother, Ms Han Hui Ping.
“Some parents may think that such an admission system is a shortcut, but it is an opportunity for students with talent and interest to be in a school with like-minded peers,” said Ms Ferlyn Tan, whose son has secured a place in the Singapore School of Science and Technology.
Students will receive the DSA results from the schools by Sept 9.
